Intersect Healthcare Solutions
Physician Practice Optimization
Optimization
Intersect’s team has worked with all types of practices to assess provider compensation models, incentive structures, payor contacting strategies, hiring approaches, staffing models, optimizing operations, establishing glide path from fee-for-service (FFS) to successful total cost of care approaches, and any number of other practice needs. We focus on ensuring providers share in the value they are creating.
Primary Care Physicians (PCPs)
Intersect leadership has represented PCP’s position to payors and others for over 20 years and have achieved models that fairly compensate PCPs for the value they create in the healthcare value chain. This is truer today than ever before. Today the definition of payor, particularly for a PCP, can be much broader given the proliferation of new risk bearing entities entering this space. These entities often control the terms of the relationship with the insurer and then subsequently develop contractual arrangements with their provider network. This evolution represents an important opportunity and potential exposure that PCPs cannot afford to get wrong.
A PCP and their panel of patients represents a substantial amount of revenue to the health care system and population health management entities, with the average PCP controlling roughly $10 million in annual healthcare spend. PCPs can have a significant impact on the efficacy of this spend and should ensure that the terms of these “downstream” arrangements provide a level of compensation commensurate with the value they bring. Intersect can help represent you to ensure that the pivotal role and investments your practice has made in healthcare reform is appropriately compensated, irrespective of the payor source, so you can focus on patient care.
The Intersect team has developed and negotiated all manner of these payor and sub-contractual arrangements, physician incentive programs, reporting, analytic support, EMR and population health system implementations. Additionally, we have this experience from the provider perspective, the CIN/ACO perspective, and from the payor perspective, so we are uniquely qualified to help practices arrive at arrangements that fairly accounts for the value PCPs bring to the healthcare system.
Specialty Care Physicians (SCPs)
Today’s evolving compensation landscape along with the proliferation of custom and narrow networks has increasingly placed new demands on specialist providers. Intersect has worked with single specialty and multi-specialty practices to help them navigate these new programs to position groups for success.
Growing your group for the associated economies of scale is often a goal and developing acquisition strategies, affiliation models, or a combination of the two are important enablers. Business development and group growth go hand-in-hand to ensure organic revenue expectations are met.
Stakeholder analysis is an important step to developing strategies to optimize the group. Each specialty is different, and we will work with you to develop a customized approach to position your group for a high probability of successful execution. Having worked on these relationships from all angles, Intersect can help your practice express the value your group brings to the healthcare system and identify creative opportunities that ultimately improve quality and efficiency from a total cost of care basis.
Intersect is adept at brokering collaborative initiatives between physicians and hospitals that drive value. This often highlights the key role groups play in creating this value which can open dialog around how we can design programs to ensure you participate in the quality and efficiency the group’s efforts create.
Regardless of the type of practice you operate, local market dynamics, or the unique challenges healthcare reform has placed on your practice, Intersect can help you position for success.
