Intersect Healthcare Solutions

Medical Staff Alignment Programs

Intersect can help your organization develop and implement initiatives that are accretive to core business while driving care efficiency. By creating program alignment between facilities and physicians, IHS can help improve total cost of care efficiency and improve patient care experience. When facility spend is taken together with related professional and ancillary cost from post-acute, the spend is significant. Efficiencies must be gained in these areas if savings are to be realized.

Intersect Healthcare Solutions can help facilities, physicians, ACOs, CINs, and other providers develop programs, facilitate discussions, and help implement initiatives that can improve efficiency in this important space. Intersect focuses program development around bundles (or virtual bundles) and Direct Cost Collaboratives (DCCs).

Bundles

When the term bundle payment is used most executives think of a payor or employer directed program that pays a fixed amount for involved providers for a given type of procedure and timeframe. While this is correct there are many other utilities for bundle initiatives within a population health management program. Unfortunately, payor directed bundles have struggled to gain traction in part because the effort associated with their management and the volume generated from their programs has historically been disproportional. Since bundles can be a good tool for population health managers and health systems alike to drive provider alignment, quality, and care efficiency, we can help you look beyond payor directed initiatives.

Direct Cost Collaboratives

A Direct Cost Collaborative (DCC) program is another tool to help facilitate efficiency, innovation, improved relationships, and create a more favorable environment for providers to work together for the benefit of patients.

DCC’s allow for physician driven care blue printing that fosters participation and buy-in from the medical staff inside and outside the facility. Once established this provides a valuable opportunity for reporting, feedback, and incentive alignment regardless of payor source. With thoughtful design these programs can boost facility contribution margin while improving quality and total cost of care efficiency. This initiative provides a level of transparency and collaboration that can improve provider alignment and commitment.

Intersect’s approach with all such initiatives is to work closely with Client counsel to ensure program parameters clearly remain within available safe harbors to result in compliant programs that deliver on triple aim objectives.
